R2CC logo vertical 2011On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, British Columbians are encouraged to wear a piece of cycling gear in support of the 2011 Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation.

Dubbed Gear Up Day, the premise is simple: show that you care about the effort to conquer cancer by wearing something related to cycling—be it spandex shorts, a cycling jersey, a helmet, or gloves, and encourage your friends to register for the 2011 Ride to Conquer Cancer. Visit www.conquercancer.ca to learn more about Gear Up Day or to register for only $50 (limited time only).

Your gifts make a difference at the BC Cancer Agency

2011 Leadership and Legacy Circle Event

BC Cancer Foundation Leadership and Legacy supporters were recognized last month for their contributions to the Foundation. The evening began with lymphoma cancer survivor Jackie Ellis and her video story.

The program highlighted how donors’ gifts are making a difference to the work of the BC Cancer Agency. Sophie Lui, Anchor, Global BC, pictured above, led the evening’s panel discussion with some of the BC Cancer Agency’s world-renowned scientists and doctors. From the front line of cancer care working with patients to the research laboratory and back again, the panel collectively demonstrated how their collaboration leads to discoveries that help improve or save patients’ lives. Donor guests were treated to a glimpse of the remarkable work undertaken here in B.C. and the impact these local efforts have on an international stage.
