The BC Cancer Foundation has proudly partnered with the Terry Fox Foundation to fund Dr. Randy Gascoyne's cutting-edge research project at the BC Cancer Agency.

This marks the first time a partner has co-funded a Terry Fox New Frontiers Program Project Grant since the program was created over 30 years ago - the Foundation is honoured to have this opportunity to help accelerate change and advance research.

With a $600,000 contribution from the BC Cancer Foundation, Dr. Randy Gascoyne's lab will receive a total of $3.885 million over the next three years to catalogue genetic differences in non-Hodgkins lymphomas to determine why some patients' cancers behave more aggressively than others.

The BC Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce our accreditation under Imagine Canada's national Standards Program.

The BC Cancer Foundation's policies and procedures in the five areas were evaluated through a peer review-based accreditation process, and were found to be compliant with the Standards Program.

An Inspirational Life: Creating a Legacy for Ovarian Cancer Research

Nargis JafferWhen Nargis Jaffer received a devastating mucinous ovarian cancer prognosis, she faced the news with bravery, courage and the hope that others might have a brighter future. Even while in palliative care, Nargis has channelled her energy toward making a difference: she has created a legacy to raise funds for ovarian cancer research at the BC Cancer Agency.

In a very short time, more than 140 of Nargis' generous friends and family, colleagues and peers, together with members of the Ismaili Muslim community have rallied support to honour her bravery and inspirational spirit. Collectively, they have raised more than $32,500 and their support continues to grow.

Nargis' message is a simple but powerful reminder of the power of giving: "This is the most important work I've ever done. Through our collective generosity we can generate awareness and capacity for discovering a curative path for others - a path paved with hope, ease, life-giving energy and peace."
